Project 2 - Rankine cycle Simulator
Aim:
Simulating the Rankine cycle using Xsteam library
Definition:
The Rankine cycle is a model used to predict the performance of steam turbine systems. The Rankine cycle is an idealized thermodynamic cycle of a heat engine that converts heat into mechanical work while undergoing a phase change. It is an idealized cycle in which friction losses in each of the four components are neglected. The heat is supplied externally to a closed loop, which usually uses water as the working fluid.
Schematic and T-s diagram:
Processes:
1-2: Isentropic Expansion in Turbine
2-3: Constant pressure heat rejection in Condensor
3-4: Isentropic Compression in Pump
4-1: Constant pressure heat addition in Boiler

Stepwise Explanation:
- Printing in the command window about the process and their numbers.
- Taking input from the user for temperature and pressure at the turbine inlet and pressure at condenser inlet.
- Using XSteam library and state equations to calculate pressure, temperature, enthalpy, and entropy at each state point. XSteam is similar to a steam table.
- Calculate the Turbine, Pump, and Net-work; Thermal efficiency; and Steam rate
- Plotting the T-s and h-s diagrams
