Pipe Flow Simulation

The aim is to perform a pipe flow simulation for different Reynolds number.

1) First, we will create a pipe, having an external diameter of 30mm and internal diameter 28mm i.e., we are providing a thickness of 1mm for making it a hollow pipe, and providing the length of the pipe as 100mm.

2)second, we will create lids for performing flow simulation.

3)Now place the line probes at 85, 90 and at 95% i.e., at 85mm, 90mm, 95mm

4)define the boundary conditions and adjust the mesh (make it more finer).

We want to study the velocity profile at those three line probes for Reynolds number 100,1000,10000 and compare them.

The formula for Reynolds number is given as-

Re=(density*velocity of fluid*Dia if pipe)/Dynamic viscosity of fluid

using this formula velocity corresponds to Reynolds number 100, 1000, 10000 are 0.00319m/s , 0.0319m/s, 0.319m/s respectively.

After running simulation, we are getting the velocity profiles as

1)For line probe at 85mm

-->for Reynolds number 100

-->for Reynolds number 1000

-->for Reynolds number 10000

2)For line probe at 90%

-->for Reynolds number 100

-->for Reynolds number 1000

-->for Reynolds number 10000

3)for line probe at 95%

-->for Reynolds number 100

-->for Reynolds number 1000

-->for Reynolds number 10000

and the velocity comparison plot at all the 3 line probes
