Numerical Solution of Quasi 1D Nozzle Flows: MacCormack's Technique

  • I am going to write a program in MATLAB for solving Quasi one dimensional nozzle flows using MacCormack's Technique implementing both of the conservative and non-conservative forms of governing equations and perform the grid dependence test.
Note: I will use the set of initial conditions provided in Anderson's textbook (chapter 7) along with the nozzle's shape and length details.

Governing flow equations

  1. Non-conservative form:

    1. Continuity equation: `(delrho)/(delt) = -rho(delV)/(delx) - rhoV(del(lnA))/(delx) - V(delrho)/(delx)`

    2. Momentum equation: `(delV)/(delt) = -V(delV)/(delx) - 1/gamma((delT)/(delx) + T/rho (delrho)/(delx))`

    3. Energy equation: `(delT)/(delt) = -V(delT)/(delx) - T(gamma-1)[(delV)/(delx) + V(del(lnA))/(delx)]`

  2. Conservative form:
