Motion Analysis of IC Engine
Objective
Obtain the Linear displacement of the Piston Head
a) 0 mm offset
b) 10 mm positive offset
c) 10 mm negative offset
Modeling
Each part is individually modeled and assembled. First cylinder is modelled as mention in challenge. Then connecting rod & end cap seperatly. Then gudgeon pin. and la st crank is modelled. These parts are modelled using extrude, extruted cut, fillet tools. the parts are assembled and offset of 10 mm is set by distance mate between cylinder front plane and assembly front plane.
Motion Analysis
A motor is applied at crank axis and a rotation of 2000 rpm given anticlockwise. Then contact constrains are applied between mating components. Then plots of linear dispacement of piston is obtained.
Results

Conclusions
1)The top position of piston is at 298 mm and bottom position at 208 mm.
2) Piston has stroke length of 90 mm
3) At top and bottom postion, velocity of piston is zero and at middle position velocity is maximum
4) Offseting piston doesn\'t affect the stroke length of piston
5) offseting piston only affects velocity and acceleration of piston
