Project

Mixing Efficiency of a T- Joint using Ansys Fluent

Introduction -

A mixing tee is a t joint which is used to mix same fluids with different temperatures or different fluids with different temperatures.

Here in this project we will be analysizing two models of mixing tee, one short and other long.

Different conditions:

1) Short mixing tee with momentum ratio as 2 and hot inlet velocity as 3 m/s.

2) Long mixing tee with momentum ratio as 2 and hot inlet velocity as 3 m/s.

3) Short mixing tee with momentum ratio as 4 and hot inlet velocity as 3 m/s.

Procedure:

Firstly we will open Ansys Workbench and select the Fluent as analysis System

We will be performing geometry cleaning and preparing the geometry in Spaceclaim.

then the meshing will be done in the ansys Mesher.

Following that the meshed model will be opened in Fluent where the boundary conditions, convergence crietria and all other values required for analysis will be given

By solving the model in Fluent, we will get the convergence,Average outlet temperature and average standard deviation.

lastly opening the cfd post to see the temperature and velocity contours of the mixing tee.

Table of Mixing Tee-

Conclusion-

1) As the velocity of cold inlet increases keeping the hot inlet velocity constant, the mixing takes place effectively resulting in low temperature outlet.

2) There is no to minimum effect of the length of mixing Tee on the outlet temperature.
