MOTION SIMULATION OF GENEVA GEAR MECHANISM
Objective:
The aim of this project is to simulate geneva gear mechanism and find out the contact force and angular dispacement for the given condition.
Introduction :
The geneva gear mechanism that translates the continues rotary motion into intermittent roray motion.
Applications of this mechanism are pen change mechanism in plotters, automated sampling devices, banknote counting machines nad many forms of indexable equipment used in manufacturing, tol changers in CNC machines, the turrets of turret lathes, screw machines and etc.
Procedure:
The driver and driven part of this mechanism made as per dimension provided and the driver and driven parts were assembled using mate command.
Driver Part:
Driven Part:
Geneva Assembly:
both parts were assembled using various mate options and the distance between the driver nad driven wheel is pproximately 220mm.
Plots :
Condition:1
Speed 10rpm CONSTANT SPEED MOTOR
Frames per Second 60
Precise contact not considered
Plot 1 :Contact force (between driving and the driven wheel) as a function of time.
Plot2: Angular Displacement of the driven wheel.
Condition:2
Speed 10rpm CONSTANT SPEED MOTOR
Frames per Second 60
Precise contact considered
Plot 1 :Contact force (between driving and the driven wheel) as a function of time.
Plot2: Angular Displacement of the driven wheel.
Condition:3
Speed 20rpm CONSTANT SPEED MOTOR
Frames per Second 120
Precise contact not considered
Plot 1 :Contact force (between driving and the driven wheel) as a function of time.
Plot2: Angular Displacement of the driven wheel.
Condition:4
Speed 20rpm CONSTANT SPEED MOTOR
Frames per Second 120
Precise contact considered
Plot 1 :Contact force (between driving and the driven wheel) as a function of time.
Plot2: Angular Displacement of the driven wheel.
Conclusion :
Motion simulation of internal geneva gear graphs are plotted for different condition,we can conclude that reaction force increase at the time of contact and decrease gradually, precise contact considered for exact results and angular displacement faster with increase of speed.
