Project

LOGIC OF WASHING MACHINE AND GEAR SHIFT USING STATEFLOW

AIM:

1. Implement control logic of a “washing machine” using Stateflow as per given sequence:

  • If the power supply is available, the system gets activated
  • If the Water supply is not available, stop the process & indicate through LED
  • Soaking time should be 200s followed by Washing time of 100s.
  • Then rinsing happens for next 20s & dryer runs for 50s

2. Create the “Gear shift” logic using Stateflow as per below conditions:

Speed Range(kmph) Gear

0 to 15 1

16 to 25 2

26 to 40 3

41 to 60 4

Above 61 5

KEYWORDS: Stateflow, Gear shift, Washing machine, Lamp

SOFTWARE: Matlab, Simulink

OBJECTIVE:

1. Implement control logic of a washing machine using stateflow by giving certain condition as power input and water input. As per this input, the machine operates and obtain the output by lamp light.

2. Create the Stateflow for gear shift and vary the input as speed and obtain the gear number in display.

INTRODUCTION:

Study 1:-

In the above figure shows the actual simulink model of washing machine and operates according to the input condition of water and power. It consists of constants, chart, display blocks. In chart block, the values and conditions assigned by state block and works accordingly. Here, we need to achieve 4 conditions,

( i ) Power & Water supply is 0, Output is 0

( ii ) Power is 1 & Water is 0, Output is 0

( iii ) Power is 0 & Water is 1, Output is 0

For the above 3 conditions which signifies 1 as ON and 0 as OFF, then the output obtained as 0 as per the condition which shows there is no machine operation and the output is same for all 3 conditions as shown in figure 1.

( iv ) Power & Water supply is 1, Output is 1

For the above condition which signifies 1 as ON , then the output obtained as 1 as per the condition which shows the machine operates for the given condition as shown in figure 2.

Study 2:-

In the above figure shows the actual simulink model of Gear-shift using stateflow as per the input condition. The input is taken as speed which varies manually and the gear shift is obtained as per the condition.

Speed Range(kmph) Gear

0 to 15 1

16 to 25 2

26 to 40 3

41 to 60 4

Above 61 5

The model consists of constant, slider gain, chart and display blocks. The chart block includes the values and condition as per the above format. Slider gain block can be used as Speed which varies from 0 - 100 kmph. As the speed varies the gear shift automatically and obtained in display block. The results are shown in figure (3 - 7).

OUTPUT:

Study 1:-

Case - 1

Figure-1

The red light on the lamp indicates that there is no proper supply of water & power, thus the output of machine does not operate according to the conditions.

Case - 2

Figure-2

The green light on the lamp indicates that there is proper supply of water & power, thus the output of machine operates according to the conditions.

Study 2:-

Case - 1: For 10 kmph, the gear shifts from Neutral to 1st gear as per the condition.

Figure-3

Case - 2: For 20 kmph, the gear shifts from 1st gear to 2nd gear as per the condition.

Figure-4

Case - 3: For 30 kmph, the gear shifts from 2nd gear to 3rd gear as per the condition.

Figure-5

Case - 4: For 50 kmph, the gear shifts from 3rd gear to 4th gear as per the condition.

Figure-6

Case - 5: For 70 kmph, the gear shifts from 4th gear to 5th gear as per the condition.

CONCLUSION:

1. From figure (1 - 2) we obtained that, the washine machine works according to the input supply of power & water else it won't work and indicated by lamp light green and red respectively.

2. From figure(3 - 7) we obtained that, as the speed varies the gear shift done by automatically as per the given condition and the change of gear indicated by lamp light as the speed varies from 0 - 70 kmph.

3. Figure 8 shows the proper shift of gear from neutral to 5th gear as per the speed variation. The gears are indicated in different colors as shown above figure.
