IC Engine motion analysis

Here we create the motion analysis of the piston assembly.

First we model the piston which is shown below.

\"\"

model of the connecting rod is shown below

\"\"

Model of the end cap is shown below

\"\"

This is the model of the wrist pin which is used ti connect piston and connecting rod

\"\"

this is the model of the crank

\"\"

This is the plicture of the IC engine assembly

\"\"

we have make assembly from all these models fist we have constrainde the crank to only about its axis and all ohter movements are not possible.the axis of the crank is made coincedent to the right and top plane and the two faces are constrainde using distance mate

Then the connecting rod is made fit in the crank and using distance of the 1mm and cap is also constrained with the connecting rod

Then piston is constrained move only horizontaly with wrist pin connected

Now to make motion anlaysis we apply gravity, contacts, motor, speed etc as required and then run analysis. We make the plot of the displacement and the angular speed of the crank

Now here are three cases for piston to move horizontaly only with specified distance

First is without offset-

The plots obtained from that are given below

\"\"

Second is with positive offset-

\"\"

Third is with negetive offset-

\"\"

All the axcel file are given in attachment.

Here we have compared the maximum and minimum distance from all three cases here is the picture of it

\"\"

We can see from that maximum distance is maximum when case is for without offset which is obvious. and also by providing offset we can lower the maximum load on crank axis.
