Project

IC Engine Valve Train Mechanism

CAM

CASE I

Cam lift = 3.5mm.

Material = Cast Carbon Steel

Speed = 1500 rpm

Spring Stiffness = 10N/mm^2

7200 frames per second

CASE II

Cam lift = 6 mm.

Material = Cast Carbon Steel

Speed = 1500 rpm

Spring Stiffness = 10N/mm^2

7200 frames per second

Results

CamLift

for 3.5mm = 53mm

for 6mm = 56mm

Contact Forces

Between Cam and Pushrod

for 3.5mm

for 6mm

Between Pushrod and rocker

for 3.5mm

for 6mm

Between Rocker and Valve

for 3.5mm

for 6mm

Observations

Contact Force Along X Direction represents Frictional force and Magnitude represents Net contact force between various parts, this shows negative value of force is acquired in during the magnitude of the contact forces.
