IC Engine Calibration using GT Power CI vs SI
- COMPARE 1 CYLINDER SI ENGINE AND 1 CYLINDER CI ENGINE
The CI Engine chosen was a 1 Cylinder GDI Engine with the same Cylinder Geometry of that of the SI engine previously modelled i.e,
- Bore = Stroke = 86 [mm]
- Connecting Rod Length = 175.0 [mm]
However, For practical purposes , Certain parameters were varied.
- The Inlet temperature is 350K [SI = 300k] and Inlet pressure is 2.5 bar [SI = 1bar]
- The Inlet Diameter is 40mm which the same for SI but the Length of the inlet port is 120mm [SI = 350mm] because SI uses Port fuel injection and CI uses GDI hence the smaller length.
- The Injected mass is 0.08g [Injection Delivery rate for SI = 8g/s] because Diesel engines are lean burned.

The above tables show a detailed comparison of CI vs SI Engines for the same cylinder Geometry
CHANGE MFB (Mass Fraction Of Fuel Burned) to 50%
Its been observed that changing to MFB50 results in decrease in performance in terms of Power Output and CO,HC and Nox Emissions
