Project

Flow Over a Bicycle with relevant PLots

This Project is carried out for 2 conditions:

  1. For Constant Drag Coefficient by varying velocity
  2. For Constant Velocity by varying Drag Coefficient

The Code and the relevant plots are attached below:

%Drag force experienced by a cyclist

%Condition: For a constant drag force,frontal area and density

%PLot for varying velocity and Drag Force

% Inputs

%For a Streamlined Body
cd=0.04;
%Area in m^2
area=0.2;

%Density in kg/m^3
density=800;

%Velocity in m^2
v=[1:10];

%Calculations
drag_force=0.5*density*area*v.^2*cd

%Drag force in measured in N

% Plots
plot(v,drag_force,\'linewidth\',1.5,\'color\',\'r\')
xlabel(\'Velocity\')
ylabel(\'Drag Force\')

%Program 2:
%Drag force experienced by a cyclist

%Condition:For constant velocity,area and density

%Case:For different values of drag coefficient

% Inputs
cd=[0.04 0.09 0.42 0.47 0.50 0.80 0.82 1.05 1.15];

%Area is considered to be in m^2
area=0.2;

%Density is considered to be in kg/m^3
density=4;

%Velocity in m/s
v=10;

%Calculations
drag_force=0.5*density*area*v^2.*cd

%Drag force in measured in N

% Plots

plot(cd,drag_force,\'linewidth\',2,\'color\',\'b\')
xlabel(\'Drag Coefficient\')
ylabel(\'Drag Force\')
