Fender Design - Wheel arc Calculation

Wheel Arc area Calculation – Front Fender

Aim:
To determine Wheel arc area and check whether the given fender design complies with the European standards.

Inputs

Model of Front fender and wheel.
European standards for Wheel Arc area in the tutorial Video.

Checkpoints:
For the arc area to comply with the given standards, the distance from the edge of the wheel to the given point must be 10.00 mm.
There are five different points (SA, SB, SC, SD, SE) given as per the image below.

Evaluation:

The sketch in the below is drawn as per the European standards to determine the compliance of the design with the standards.

Actual Values Measured:

Point SB = 10.00 mm

Point SA = 9.9489 mm

Point SC = 0.113670 mm

Point SD = -2.8787 mm

Point SE = -5.9755 mm

Results:

The Graph and the chart show only the Point SB is at 10mm from the edge of the wheel. The clearance length CL of other points (SA, SC, SD, SE) is not as per
standards. Points SC, SD, SE fall outside the fender area. So the fender needs to be redesigned to comply with European standards.
