Effect of grid size On the Simulation

The Channel Flow SImulation is carried out in converge CFD software with different grid size to know the effect of Change in grid size on results and how it affects. The Channel Flow simulation is subjected to three different grid size.

Grid Size:- it is the dimension of the smallest cell present in the model.

Case1) Grid Size:- 2e-4m

No. of cells:- 5.04 e+6

Mesh:-

\"MESH\"

Velocity PLot:-

\"Velocity

Case 2:- Grid Size:- 1.5e-4m

No. of cells:- 1.20 e+7

Mesh PLot:-

Velocity Plot:-

Case 3:- Grid Size :- 1.2e-4m

No. of cells:- 2.35 e+7

Mesh:-

Velocity plot:-

Observation:- There was no effect(high impact) of grid size on results. Results in all cases are in same. But Grid Size has directly affected the No. of cells in the simulation.

The Smaller the grid size more will the number of cells and vice versa. As a result, if the number of elements is more, the time taken to compute the result will be more. The Smaller the Grid size more accurate will be the results. The Analyst has to choose the grid size very carefully.

Conclusion:- So Grid size affects the number of cells in Simulation and the time require for solving and also controls the accuracy of the results.
