EXPLICIT ANALYSIS ON CAR CRASH
Objective :
Perform a parametric study using 3 different values of thickness for the car body, to find out the total deformation and Equivalent stresses acting on the model.
Geometry :
The given geometry was imported in explicit dynamic.
Materials used :
For car body - Stainless steel NL
for rigid body - Structural steel
Symmetry :
Symmetry was applied to the rigid body and car body.
connection :
The body frictionless body interaction is created to the all body
Meshing :
face meshing is done to reduce the computational time.
Analysis settings :
Fixed support :
Displacement :
500mm Displacement for rigid body is applide towards the car.
Simulation :
Parameter study :
On observing the above results,
When the thickness of the car body increases deformation increases and Equivalent sress is decreases.
so, In 0.3 mm deformation decreased and Equivalent stress increased.
In 0.7 mm deformation increased and stress is decreased.
