EFFECT OF MESH GRADING FACTOR - FLOW THROUGH A BACKWARD FACING STEP
OBJECTIVE:
To define the velocity magnitude profile changes as the function of mesh grading factor such as 0.2,0.5,0.8 and also measure the velocity profile at 0.085m from the inlet of the geometry.
SOLUTION:
The followings are performed by picking up the cavity folder which is presented in tutorial/incompressible/icoFoam then copying it to the $FOAM_RUN directory and created the geometry using blockMeshdict file, \"blockMesh\" command to create the mesh which is to be stored in constant/Polymesh . Initial conditions are given at 0 folder and timesteps are made at controlDict file, icoFoam solver is used to execute the program.

RESULTS AND OBSERVATIONS:
From the plots ,we can observe that they produce more or less same magnitude in all the three grading factors and also noted that as we decreasing the grading factor the mesh gets finer, accordingly the courant number is also getting expanded and solver has stopped the simulation showing error message,in order to get the solution, time steps to be decreased as well.
