Drop test Challenge of phone hitting the plate

OBJECTIVE:

The main objective of this challenge is to create an input deck from the given FE Model and run the simulation for the same.

PROCEDURE:

1. Load the file in LS-Pre Post

2. Rename the components.

3. Create Section Cards for both the solid components with Element Formulation (ELFORM) as 1

4. Create Material Cards for both Plate and the Phone.

For Plate------> MAT 20----> Rigid Material

Con 1 = Con 2 = 7

CMO= 1

For Phone------> MAT 24 ----> Piecewise Linear

young\'s modulus=2.1e5 N/mm2

Density= 7.85e-9 kg/mm3

poissons ratio = 0.3

Yield Strength= 400N/mm

5. Assign both the section and material cards to the Part ID

6. Control the termination till the end time of 0.005

7. In database, for output requests, binary plots of time step 0.0001 has been given

8. Contact type of AUTOMATIC SURFACE TO SURFACE is assigned.

Phone-----> Slave Node

Plate -----> Master Node

9. Initial velocity of -4429mm/sec is given (value obtained from MIL-STD-810G )

10. The model is checked with MODEL CHECKER before running the simulation.

11. Apply output requests like GLSTAT, D3 Plots for plotting the graph.

RESULTS:

GLSTAT - ENERGIES IN THE GLOBAL STATISTICS

The energy levels obtained at Kinetic Energies, Internal Energies, Total energies have been obtained.

VON-MISES STRESS is obtained at the maximum stress value of 550 MPa

Conclusion:

The input deck has been created for the given input model and the simulation has been run and the output energies have been plotted for the same.
