Conjugate heat transfer analysis on graphics card And calculation of cooling rate at the cooling area provided on the processor
CONJUGATE HEAT TRANSFER ANALYSIS ON GRAPHICS CARD
Here we have to setup a analysis on graphics card , Also we have to study the cooling rate at diffrent convective region on the graphics card body.The set up is that the graphics card is modeled and kept in an enclouser , In the graphics card there are three elements(BASE , PROCESSOR, FINS) Processor was provided with heat generation value . and the ait in flowing from inlet to outlet region, and cooling and temperature generation will takes place at the same time. And we have to study the maximum temperature in the system also the variation in heat transfer coefficent .
Geometry:-
Meshing and the quality :-
Base line meshing and quality.
Refined meshing and quality.
Properties and the boundary conditions set in fluent.
1. Materials properties
Base=steel
Fin =Aluminium
Processor=Copper
2. Heat generation value to processor= 2e8 W/m^3
As this value is corresponds to power used by the processor in gaming laptops 16 watts.
3. Velocity of air= 6m/s at 300k.
Results for both the cases:-
case 1 : baseline meshing:
case 2 : Refined meshing meshing:
Both the results are converged sucessfully at 500 itterations , and trhe residuals are illustrated on the graph above. Also the velocity distribution are proper the stream velocity has increased at the graphics portion to 7 m/s
The temperature distribution Across processor , fins and base. are provided with 3-D image.
maximum temperature attained by the processor:-
case1 - 343 k
case2 - 346k
maximum temperature at fins.
case1 - 334 k
case2 - 337k
maximum temperature at base.
case1 - 334 k
case2 - 326k
