Challenge 4
- When Roll Centre Height (RCH) increases, the body roll decreases considering the CG remains constant. With this, the non-rolling moment/ jacking moment increases.
- The individual moments are affected as follows:
- At the ground plane, RCH is ideally zero. Hence non-rolling moment is zero whereas the rolling moment exists.
- Below the ground plane, the rolling moment and non-rolling moment counteract each other. In terms of magnitude, the rolling moment will be greater than the non-rolling moment.
- In a real vehicle, the force based RC will be more accurate. The reason being, the kinematic RC depends on the IC, track width which constantly changes with suspension travel at different ride conditions. But in force based RC, the RC depends more so on the forces acting on the vehicle which can be monitored on the go.
