COPPER SHEET ROLLING SIMULATION

COPPER SHEET ROLLING SIMULATION:

OBJECTIVE:

The objective of this simulation is to simulate the rolling sheet which is made up of Copper Alloy NL and to obtain the results of Equivalent Stress, Directional Deformation and Equivalent Plastic Strain of the model and the sheet.

PROCEDURE:

In the ANSYS Workbench, the Static Structural is selected and the material of Copper Alloy NL is inserted.

The downloaded model is then edited by increasing the workpiece length of 60 mm and decreasing its size by 8 mm on both sides.

Then the model is renamed and the wheels are selected as Structural Steel and the workpiece as Copper Alloy NL.

The Contact Region of both the wheels and the workpiece is flipped and the type as Frictional with a coefficient of 0.2. The Formulation of Augmented Lagrange is selected and Normal Stiffness value is given as 0.1 and Interface of Add offset and Ramped effects.

The Cylindrical joints are given to both the wheels. The Mesh of 2 mm is given to the sheet and the other parts are given with the default mesh size.

The Analysis Setting of 14 steps are given and the Large Deflection is turned On and the energy dissipation value of 0.1 is given in the constant stabilization factor. The Displacement of sheet of 14 random values are given ranging from 0 to 90 mm along the y axis. The joint load is given to both the wheels by rotation of 195 degrees with the difference of 15 degrees.

RESULT:

The simulation is run and the results are obtained.

The minimum and maximum values of Equivalent Stress of the setup are 0.008991 MPa and 3102.3 MPa respectively.

\"\"

The minimum and maximum values of Equivalent Plastic Strain of the sheet are 0.00086582 mm and 1.7809 mm respectively.

\"\"

The minimum and maximum values of Directional Deformation of the sheet along the z axis are -6.5003 mm and 6.4216 mm respectively.

\"\"

The workpiece has moved in the y axis with the displacement of 90 mm in which the attached video is proving that the two front faces of the sheet is moving with a maximum displacement of 90 mm along the y axis.
