Boundary and Initial Conditions

To find a definite solution for a particular PDE we need two important things that are

  1. Initial conditions:- We take these as considerations to rationalize a particular equation in a particular domain.
  2. Boundary conditions:- This is somewhat like the desired solution that we want to find.

For example- let\'s take an example of a slab where heat is generating within with one wall insulated.

PDE: d^2T/dx^2 + Q\'/K =O

Initial Conditions:At x=0, T=160\'c

Boundary Conditions: At dT/dx=0, T is maximum.

From here we can find the value of T(max) as 165\'c.
