Benchmarking project for a car
Hi Mr D.S. Pughazhyendhii, in this letter I have suggested a good car having taken into account your family seating, your car usage, both everyday use and other family outings that you might take, and most importantly your budget.
Let me tell you the cars which I am going to talk about in the beginning and then I will list their pros and cons according to your needs.
I have shortlisted three cars that potentially match your requirements:
- Renault Duster
- Maruthi Suzuki Vitara Brezza
- Ford Ecosport
There are some variants of these are which are over your budget but we will not be compromising much by going for the lower variants of this car. I will also include what the higher variants have in-case you choose to increase your budget.
Spacious feel: You seem to be travelling quite often with your family and one important thing for a road trip is the battle between time and distance. No one likes to have to drive more than 6-7 hours for a 500Km trip. One of the major time killers during the road trip is breaks that you have to take because you fell uncomfortable sitting with your legs cramped between the spaces. Duster offers the most legroom for both the driver and the passenger and is also taller among the three. Should one of you happen to be taller or your son grows taller in a couple of years he should have no problem in this car. Also, the Duster offers the most trunk space of them all. You are a family of 5 and you are sure to fill the trunk of the car while travelling
Economic Factors: All these three cars give a fairly similar mileage with Vitara having a slightly better mileage with less power hence on economy standpoint there is not much to decide. But, of the three Ecosport has more power and if that is something that you would consider you should add a point to the Ford Ecosport.
Safety: Maruthi Vitara Brezza and Ford Ecosport both have 4/5 stars for crash rating while Duster has a 3/5 star. One star might not seem like much but when the different types of tests that were done were to be broken down Duster did not perform well in the safety features part.
Budget: Duster seems to be at the higher end of your budget for the lower variant so if you were to get one with some fancy features you will have to go past your price range. Vitara Brezza is the lowest among the three with a starting price of 8.30 lakhs.
Considering these options, I would say you can get the most for your budget and also satisfying all your needs with the Maruthi Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Renault Duster would have been my choice except for the fact that it is comparatively less safer. The more you are on the road, safer your car has to be so for these reasons we have to not choose Duster.
