BASIC SHEET METAL OPERATION
TITLE: BASIC SHEET OPERATION USING NX CAD
OBJECTIVE: Sheet metal has massive application worldwide and is a highly important form in most manufacturing sectors such as aerospace, automotive, food industry and across nearly all manufacturing industries.
DESIGN METHODOLOGY:
Open NX 11 :
- create sketch on xy plane
- apply dimention x =60mm ,
- y = 50 > exit
change design parameters :
- menu peferance sheet metals
- enter all global parameters 1mm
- using TAB BUTTON 1MM in thickness
TO MAKE CUT OUT create 5mm , 40mm long , on left edge
BENDING:
- create a plane upper left corner
- draw two line 10mm from the X axis
- exit sketch
BEND OPERATION :
- Angle 90 deg > select the line
ADDING FLANGE :
- Length 5mm on four edges as 90deg inside and material insde option
BREAKING CORNERS:
- Radius 1mm on all corners
UNBENDING:
- Select bend face on its suface
- do same for all sides and edges
ADDING HOLES SKETCH:
- create sketch 5MM on upper corner plane with middle point+++++43?draw a point on the center of the line
- similarly create other three point
HOLE:
Select point
- normal to face
- simple
- general screw clearance
- M2> H13
ADDING DIMPLE sketch:
create sketch 5mm length centered at the origin
studios spline:
- by poles deg 3
- close
- view
- clock wise
move curve:
- select curve
- angle 45 deg
DIMPLE:
select curve> depth 1mm > inside > material inside> punch raidus 1mm > die radi 1mm > corncer raidus 1mm > tool clearance 5mm.
ADDIND BEADS SKETCH:
- XY plane 5mm circle dia > 8mm distance from top corner
- using mirror feature similarly 3 circle at 3 corners.
BEAD:
- Select curve circular > depth 1mm > raidus 1mm> die radi 1mm> tool clearance 5mm.
- using mirror feature similarly 3 circular beads at 3 corners.
REBENDING;
- Rebend the faces by selecting them in reverse order which they were bend
- hide all the sketches
DRAFTING:
FLAT PATTERN >NEWSHEET > A4 > BASE VIEW > INFERRED >SCALE 2:1 > ROTATE USING ORIENT TOOL

CONCLUSION : DESIRED MODEL ARE CREATED BY USING NX CAD AND DRAFTING ARE MADE TO SHOW IN DEATIL.
