BACKDOOR

Backdoor is the rear closing entity of the car which allows to put luggage or passengers at the back side. Without it both are unsafe or unable to sit or arrange into the provided space. Backdoor is the part of a car which makes it unique as other similar transportation vehicles doesn’t have it. As per standard, the outer region can be constructed with steel but inner one is suggested to be made with aluminium due to its light weight efficiency with equal strength properties. A backdoor also includes Viper motor, vipers and Hinge, latch and striker system. To make backdoor either a single unit is constructed or small panels, body parts are assembled. As provided in the video there is a huge difference in between the properties of steel and aluminium.

To create a good backdoor, it is also required to provide good emboss so that during post-simulation no such problem which could fail model occurs therefore it created as V over Y section to dissipate the energy outside the car. During Bend test, Torsion, Abuse cases like closed and open cases, Dent test, assembly load case the effect must be minimal over the body, thus the given model provides the optimum design which can withstand the horizontal and vertical impact individually or simultaneously.

Design Consideration:

Backdoor is generally constructed with aluminium or steel material. However, due to weight of aluminium is less, It is preferred in premium cars due to its cost and strength provided for the given variant. Inner panel is composed of hinge, reinforcements, viper motor area, Gas stay reinforcement, latch and striker reinforcement and viper motor reinforcement. The model is design to reduce the weight and to manage the luggage area. In below images viper motor region and latch and striker region is highlighted.
