ASSIGNMENT 5
OBJECTIVE: To do thermodynamics analysis of an engine for tractor application for use in India with following targets:
- Max power 75 Hp
- Bsfc target : min 210 g/kWh and 225 g/kWh
- Can use cooled EGR configuration
MODEL DISCRIPTION:
TAFE 7502 DI 2WD is used in the following:
- This modelconsist of four cylinder, each have two intake ports and two exhaust ports.
- The total displacement in the engine is 3.5 L.
Project Planning:
- Firstly an intercooled diesel engine is selected.
- After that the six cylinder engine model is converted into four cylinder engine.
- Then the eight port model is converted into sixteen port model.
- Then the intake air pressure after the compression is fed as 2.5 bar and fuel ejection per cycle as 50mg.
Case Setup:
Three cases has been taken, that are:
1. rated speed(2200rpm)
2. speed at max. power(2100rpm)
3. speed at max. torque(1400rpm)
RESULT:
1.As we have seen here the max power is limited to 75 Hp.
2. The bsfc is also with in the range that is 225g/kWh to 210g/kWh.
It is seen here that at 1400 rpm it has 258N-m instead of 294N-m which is approx 10% deviation from the given rated value.
Similarly at 2200 rpm, it has 58.2 kW of brake power instead of 55kW which is approx. 5.8% deviated from the rated value.
CONCLUSION:
An engine model for tractor applicataion has been constructed and the outputs were achieved with in permissible limits.
