SOLIDWORKS Drawings

No matter how advanced 3D technology has become, drawing in two dimensions remains vital for many companies. This is especially true for businesses that develop products or use machine shops, as they need to be able to create Solidworks models. 2D drawing is still an essential element despite the prevalence of 3D technology.

In this article, we have included helpful Solidworks drawing resources to help you build upon your knowledge.

Can You Create 2D Solidworks Drawings? What is the process?

Creating 2D representations in Solidworks is possible, but they should only be used for labels and annotations. You should use your 3D models to generate 2D drawings for the best results. Solidworks drawings must contain at least one view from a part or assembly. Remember to save the part or assembly before attempting to make its drawing.

The steps are to create a 2D drawing in Solidworks

    1. If the part or assembly is already open, choose 'Make Drawing from Part/Assembly' in the New flyout menu. To begin a new drawing, click the File New icon to open the New Solidworks Document window.
    2. Choose the Drawing option to use the default template.
    3. Click OK.
    4. Select the sheet size and format.
    5. Pick the standard view orientation.
  • Start a Solidworks 2D drawing.

Below is the process for modifying the scale of a Solidworks drawing:

    1. Click on the Sheet Scale option in the status bar
  • Pick a scale from the list.

What is the process for associating drawings with components in Solidworks?

What is Solidworks 3D Drawing

To incorporate a model into the drawing:

  1. Open the View palette in the taskbar
  2. Locate the part you wish to add to your drawing

To modify the connection of an existing view:

    1. Right-click on the view
    2. Select Replace Model
  • Select the appropriate part or assembly

How can I export 2D Drawings from Solidworks?

To output Solidworks 2D drawings, follow these steps:

  1. Choose File > Save As
  2. In the dialog box, decide on either the PDF, DXF, or DWG file type
  3. In the Save As dialog box, type in the filename and click Save

Can We Render an Image In Solidworks?

Yes, we can produce a realistic image of our designs using Solidworks. Solidworks Rendering is creating a lifelike image from a 3D model or scene, and Solidworks has a powerful rendering engine to help users do just that. It enables them to adjust the appearance of their design with various lighting conditions and apply textures and materials to give it a more realistic look and feel.

Additionally, Solidworks provides users with tools to customise further their renderings, such as colour, texture, and lighting, and add post-processing effects, such as motion blur and depth of field. All these features allow users to generate stunning renderings that look as realistic as a photograph.

What are Solidworks 3D Drawings?

Drawings made using Solidworks 3D are computer-aided designs (CAD) used to create highly detailed three-dimensional models of components, parts, and assemblies.

This type of drawing also enables engineers and designers to simulate motion, analyse stresses, and perform various other engineering operations. Solidworks 3D drawings are utilised by engineers, designers, and producers to develop more efficient and cost-effective products.

What is Solidworks Surface Modeling?

Surface Modeling provides instruction on constructing organic shapes using Solidworks mechanical design automation software. It is used to design complex shapes and curved features that are difficult to create using traditional 3D modelling techniques.

Solidworks Surface Modeling can create complex shapes for products such as aerospace parts, automotive body panels, and medical implants.

What Can You Expect From Solidworks Online Course Offered by Skill-Lync?
