Week 9 - Creating connection for Rear door

AIM:

To create and apply different PID’s and deploy FE connections to the given rear door FE model.

PROCEDURE:

Import the given FE rear door model into the ANSA work area and analyze the different parts present in the model, and create PID’s to apply for each part

Given FE model

Since the given FE is modeled using shell elements, we create PID for shell elements PSHELL in ANSA.

To create PID: LISTS > PROPERTIES > RIGHT CLICK / NEW > NEW > PSHELL >

PSHELL

Apply the PID to the desired elements in the model.

Creating connections

  • RBE2 connections:

  1. many nodes RBE2

MODULES > DECKS > ELEMENTS > RBE2 > MANY NODES

Select the nodes that are to be connected

  • spot-weld connections:

To create a spot weld connection, firstly a point needs to be created at the point of connection

Convert the point to spot weld: ASSEMBLY > CONVERT > 3D POINT > SPOTWELD POINT

To create spot-weld at the point go to: ASSEMBLY > CONNECTION MANAGER > SELECT THE POINT

  • Rbe3 move nodes:

In this I have first move nodes up to glass because it will be fixed to glass and help it to go Up and Down. Then have to select Rbe3 and made the fixed connection.

  • CBUSH CONNECTION:

I have used Cbush connection for moving window because glass is Brittle. We use weather strips around window glass so it will cushion it. So, for Cbush connection first make curve by using Feat2curve from Classic mesh make curve on both sides of glass by 10 mm gap on each side by using copy option from Transform. Then go to nastran deck and go to cbush and select the curve and then give stiffness value and then make pbush property and then click ok.

RESULTS:

Hence the Connectors have been deployed successfully to the car rear door component by using RBE2, RBE3-CBUSH-RBE3, RBE3-HEXA-RBE3 and CONMI2 element.

Hence the connector's has been deployed to the components without any glitch.

Hence the connector's with a proper realization type has been deployed successfully.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

All the connectors have been deployed according to the realization type given in the challenge.

In this Challenge, I came to know how to deploy a connector with a suitable realization type.

How to debug a connector if it is unrealized and failing.

How to create a connector in particular region.
