Challenge

Week 8-Challenge

OBJECTIVE

3D Meshing:

Elements sizes: Min- 2mm, Target- 5mm,Max- 7mm

Tet collapse: 0.15

  1. Create Teramesh for Housing
  1. For the given Model,

Model-2, Model-4,

Create 3D mesh with 6mm

PROCEDURE

1 create tetramesh for housing

  • CAD File was imported using import geometry.
  • Geometry cleanup were done like toggle lines, delete surface, filler surface.
  • Once the cleanup was done 2d mesh on the surface was created.
  • 2D mesh was created using automesh.
  • Required measurements were taken into account while deciding the specification of the element size and orientation.
  • Quality check was done once the mesh was done, using element check, smooth, element optimization. Replace node.
  • Once 2D mesh was optimized 3d mesh was created using tetra mesh in 3D panel
  • All the 2D elements were selected and 3D mesh was created using them.
  • Once the 3D element was created quality check was performed using tetra collapse.
  • All the falling elements were masked and then rectified.
  • Height of the falling elements was improved using node distance and replace node.

  1. Create tetra mesh for the two given model

Chassis assembly

  • Model was opened in hyper mesh
  • Model contain all solid component so volume teramesh approach was taken.
  • 3D mesh were created with give specification.
  • All the component were meshed separately because of the student edition limitations.
  • Once the 3D element was created quality check was performed using tetra collapse.
  • All the falling elements were masked and then rectified.
  • Height of the falling elements was improved using node distance and replace node.
