Week 6-Meshing of Hood Challenge
Aim- To prepare a hood panel model for crash and safety analysis using Hypermesh tool.
Modeling Criteria -
- Mesh type - Mixed mesh
- Element size - 5 units
- Quality Criteria -
| S.N | Quality Criteria | Value |
| 1 | Aspect Ratio | 5 |
| 2 | Skewness | 45 |
| 3 | Warping | 15 |
| 4 | Taper | 0.5 |
| 5 | Min. Length | 2 Units |
| 6 | Max. Length | 8 Units |
| 7 | Min angle Quad | 45 |
| 8 | Max angle Quad | 135 |
| 9 | Min angle Tria | 20 |
| 10 | Max angle Tria | 120 |
| 10 | Tria % | 10 |
Modeling Consideration -
- There are 4 major components in the assembly, i.e, the Outer part, Inner panel, latch reinforcement, and hinge reinforcement.
- All the mid surfaces must be kept in separate collectors.
- Tri elements must not be present at feature boundaries.
- The washer should be given at appropriate locations.
- Edges must be checked for any open boundaries within the model.
- proper equivalence should be provided wherever necessary.
- The model should be checked for Normals.
Model Snips -
- Outer panel

- Inner panel

- Hinge Reinforcement

- Latch Reinforcement

Conclusion -
- CAE modeling for the hood panel is done with the above quality criteria for durability.
- Element size is kept at 5 units
- All the parts properties were stored in different collectors.
