REAR DOOR CONNECTIONS

REAR DOOR CONNECTIONS

OBJECTIVE:

To implement connections on the rear door FE model using ANSA.

GIVEN FE MODEL:

PROCEDURE:

  1. Import the FE model using input> NASTRAN.
  2. Create property cards for different components in the assembly.
  3. Start connecting the components using RBE2 elements.
  4. Create a model for t6he door handle using the rbe2 elements.
  5. Assign mass at the center node (master node) of the door handle using CONM2.
  6. Use the zone cut option in the shell mesh to create a zone around the holes. A two layer rigid connection is more stronger than the single layer.
  7. Use the COG option to create 3d points at thye center of the holes and convert the 3d point to bolt.
  8. Now use the connection manager to create bolt connections.
  9. Create curves on the edge of the glass model and using the transform option move/copy the curves to create curves at a little distance away from the edge of the glass.
  10. Now convert the curves into spot lines.
  11. Use the connection manager to create bush connections using the spot lines to hold the glass.
  12. The bush connection is created using the RBE3-CBUSH-RBE3 card and create property card for the cbush.
  13. Convert the 3d points to spot welds and create spot weld using the RBE3-HEXA-RBE3 card wherever necessary.
  14. Finally go to the checks and initialize a connectivity check to identify the unconnected assemblies.

CONCLUSION:

Connections has been successfully created on the given rear door FE model.

The connectivity has been checked and no assemblies found unconnected.
