Connections for Rear Door using NASTRAN module in ANSA

Methodology:

  • Converting the nas file into ansa file.
  • Set PID’s for each part.
  • Connections using Nastran module.

Converting the nas file:

File → input file→nastran→ANSA

Set PID’s for each part:

Topology → faces→ setPID- PID window →New

In PID we can assign and modify the property ID as well color code of the each part.

Connections- Nastran module:

We have different types of connections to join the parts using Nastran module in ANSA

Basic assembly connection types: These connections are available assembly, helps to join through bolts, seamline, spot-welds, curves, fe to adhesives etc.

First we need to convert the connection 3D points or any other required joining method according to the joining type.

Method of connection1: Assembly→ convert→ 3D point or curves etc →selecting the connection manager

Method of connection2: first we need to create 3D pint then selecting the RBE2 (rigid body elements) at elements in Nastran module to create the connection. We can select many nodes to create rigid body connection to join the bolt connection we can use two node RBE2 to establish the bolt connection.

Zone cut before creating rigid body elements

RBE2 connection at door-hinge consist of 5 degree of freedom (12345) which give the rotational motion to the door.

RBE2-CBUSH-RBE2 connection for rear door glass a

Converting the FE line of glass into Feat2curve then selecting connection manger to → select TID RBE2-CBUSH-RBE2→ select P1 and P2.

To change the orientation of CBUSH axis to coincide or make it uniform with global coordinate system.

This about creating rubber strip around the door edge to provide cushion

Out comes:

Created rigid body element (RBE2) connections.

Spot-weld connections made for rear door glasses.

Changed the orientation of the CBUSH axis.

Mass of the door handle assigned in the database.

Degree of freedom (DOF) assigned according the constrained motion required.

Learned how to create door rubber bead line using feat2curve in 2d mesh at perimeter

Conclusion:

Connections for rear door has established using Nastran in ANSA the connections details are mentioned in the outcomes.
