Defining the connections of a rear door in an automobile using ANSA
Defining the connections of a rear door in an automobile using ANSA
Aim:
To define various connections of a rear door using ANSA
Procedure:
1. Input the nastran file reardoor.nas into ANSA
2.Assign PID to different elements of the structure such as windows, exterior and interior shell etc.
3. If there are holes aligned one over the other bolt connections are used. A COG is created and it is assigned as BOLT using Convert . Then in Connections Manager a bolt is defined by assigning respective PID.
4.Create ZONE CUT for bolt holes which is not connected to many parts. Create RBE2 connection along with the washer elements around the hole.
5. In the door hinge area the holes are connected using the multi node RBE2. Since the two holes are connected together a two node RBE2 is used to connect the two holes. As we know the door hinges should have rotation in the Z plane therefore the degree of freedom is set as 12345 and not the rigid degree of 123456.
6. For Connections involved in Spot welding.
- Set PID's for components.
- Select the node and convert it into Spot weld point.
- RBE3-HEXA-RBE3 is used for representation of spot welding.
7. the door handle holes are connected using multi node RBE2. A connection is made between the centre of two holes of door handle using multi node RBE2. The centre is provided a mass of 100g using the CONMi > CONM2 > NODES. The mass is represented in US tonnes.
8.Connections of windows.
- Create a curve around the Perimeter of windows. Transform them into Spot lines. Two curves are defined at base of the window as the main controls are provided there , rest are just guide strips.
- Select the lines after opening CONNECTIONS MANAGER. RBE3-CBUSH-RBE3 is used to represent window connections because windows are connected with soft beedings to absorb shocks.
- Assign parts for connection of CBUSH elements.
The CBUSH orient is changed to With Coord and CID is assigned as 0 (global coordinates).
CONCLUSION :
- Multiple holes and bolted areas are connected using the RBE2 and the bolt elements.
- Spot welding Component connections are made using RBE3-HEXA-RBE3.
- Window weather strips are represented using RBE3-CBUSH-RBE3.
- Mass of handle is represented using CONMi
- Degrees of freedom assigned for Hinges.
