Week 5 Challenge : Surface wrap on Automotive Assembly

Report on the surface wrap

Aim:

To clean the engine model from errors and assemble those for a surface wrap of mesh length of 5mm using ANSA.

Procedure:

  1. Import the engine files and clear all the unnecessary tubes and surfaces/faces.
  2. Hiding the engine parts at first using not command under PID mode, helps to clear it in one go.
  3. Later do the same for the Transmission and gearbox. Delete the double and single cons.
  4. Now merge all three models into one using the merge option.
  5. Better close all the opened surfaces (holes) so the wrap won’t be distorted.
  6. For wrapping, we can use either wrap in element box or Wrap in octree command.
  7. For wrapping compress, all the unwanted or unassigned PIDs are then set the parameters such as wrap element size 5mm and mesh type to triangular.
  8. Now, select the PIDs and press Run to Wrap-up.

Learning outcome:

  1. Learned how to wrap a model.
  2. How to merge two components

Results:
