Week 4 Session 5
i.DC-DC Converter- It converts an unregulated DC to regulated DC output. Eg- Let us consider a laptop charger which require constant 20 V voltage. So, This converter converts an unregulated 220 V to regulated 20 V.
These Converters are used in following auxiliary loads.
Car AC System
Music System
Head Lights
Dimmer
HV-LV Link
ii.Isolated Converter- The converter in which input and output sides are electrically isolated. the output polarity is not influenced by input polarity.
Eg- Half bridge, Full bridge, Push-Pull, Flyback.
iii. Non-Isolated Converter- The converter in which input and output sides are directly connected.
Eg- Buck,Boost, Buck-Boost.
iv. Resonant Conversion- This converter is used in high power conversion.
v. DC-DC Converter(Inverter)- This converter is used to convert DC to AC and control both magnitude and frequency of output. It is generaly used in controlling the Ac Motor
Vi. AC-DC Converter(Rectifier)- This converter is used to convert AC to DC. it is msinly used in charging parts.
*For the use of horn below 10 Volt we generally use DC-DC Converter.
