Week 4 Session 5
Ans1.A. Application of Power Converters in EV are:-
1. AC to AC Converter
2. AC to DC Converter
3. DC to DC Converter
4. DC to AC Converter
Marority/Mostly Used converters are
1.dc to dc converter
2.dc to ac converter
3.ac to dc converter
1. DC To DC Converter :-
DC to dc is a power conversion in which the unregulated dc input is converted into regulated dc output and transferes the energy at different level and store in a magnetic & electrical field.
Different types of DC to DC Converters are as follows:-
1a.. NON ISOLATED Converters
The non isolated converters are majorly or mostly used in the application where the voltage needs to be stepup or step down with the output and the input have no
dielectric isolation.
Types of Non isolated converters
1. Buck
2.Boost
3.Buck-Boost
4.Cuk
1.b.Isolated Converters
DC to DC converter where the input side and output side are electrically isolated, the output polarities are not affected by input polarities conductor.Usually the transformer is used at the input and output side.
Types of Isolated Converters
1.Fly back
2.Forward
3.Half Bridge
4.FULL Bridge
1.c.Resonant Converter:-
A Different family of DC to DC converter used for high power conversion.
2. DC to AC Converters
a.these converters are commonly called as Inverters.
b.In EV Inverters are used for AC motor that is Induction motor it may be single or three phase
c.Can control both magnitude and frequency of output ac voltage
b.widely seen in control of AC Motors
3.AC to DC Converters
1. These are commonly called as Rectifiers.
2.Rectifies the AC input and conerters them into dc output
3.Widely used/seen in battery cherging station
4.Rectifiers with power factor correction are mostly used in the industry
Ans 1.B. Different Application of Power converters are
Power converters are used in day today life also
1. Inverter i.e Home Inverters and UPS
2. Mobile Charger
3. Laptop Charger
4. Locomotives like traction trains
5.Music system
6.Car Headlights
7. Air condition system in Car
