The Power converters are mainly used to conver the AC Power from the gried into the power we use or to store .The power converters are clasified into 4 main parts they are :
- AC-AC converters
- AC-DC converters
- DC-AC converters
- DC-DC converters
the DC-DC converters are mainly used in the low power like horn and remaing low voltage applications
DC-DC converters
- This converters is an electronic ckt that converts DC voltage from one level to another level it might be step up or step down aswell.They are also called as the choppers.
- They converts the unregulated DC input to an Regulated DC output.
- Delivering power to auxilary loads opersting at different voltage near load side
- DC-DC converter converts higher voltage DC power from the traction battery pack to the lower-voltage DC power needed to run vehicle accessories and recharge the auxiliary battery
As mentioned, the horn typically requires a DC power supply with a voltage of less than 10V. A DC-DC converter can be used to step down the high-voltage DC supply from the vehicle's battery (typically 200-400V) to the lower voltage required by the horn.
