Week 4 - Genetic Algorithm
Try to understand the concept of genetic algorithm by referring to varius sources before you attend this challenge. Look out for information regarding stalagmite function and ways to optimise it.
- Write a code in MATLAB to optimise the stalagmite function and find the global maxima of the function.
- Clearly expalin the concept of genetic algorithm in your own words and also explain the syntax for ga in MATLAB in your report.
- Make sure that your code gives the same output, even if it is made to run several times.
- Plot graphs for all 3 studies and for F maximum vs no. of iterations. Title and axes labels are a must, legends could be shown if necessary.
The presentation of your code will be taken into consideration while grading. Labeling sections of your code is appreciated.
Content expected in the report:
- Step-wise explanation of your code.
- Mention the errors while programming.
- Steps taken to overcome those errors.
- Screenshots showing errors thrown in command window.
Under references, mention the literature or online material you have used during research.
In case if you are not able to finish the challenege, upload until what you have done and explain the code and plot. Deserved marks will be allotted.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
- The codes, plots, images, GIFs, and videos should be submitted only through the answer box.
- Use the Google Drive to share only the cad models or other answers which couldn't be done through the answer box.
NOTE:
- Violating the above instructions will lead to ZERO marks.
- Link sharing should be enabled while sharing the Google Drive link, else the challenge will be awarded ZERO marks.
Just submitting your code without the report will result in a 0 grade.
Paste the code using the "INSERT SAMPLE CODE" option and attach screenshots of the output.
Note:
If you are using octave, switch to Matlab to complete this challenge alone. Since Octave is amn open source freeware, the packages are not updated to use them for the current version. Hence it is recommended to install the trial version of matlab to attempt this challenge.
