Week 4- Challenge
Bracket with 1D Elements
Objective: To Create the midsurface for the given bracket model and provide it with 1D elements like rod, beam and bar elements and mesh the component
Procedure:
The model is imported and checked and midsurface is generated for the 2 component as provided and the midsurface alone is used for providing mesh and other 1D elements.
Generated mid-surface with washer splits
Then the washer split is made around the hole by going in to quick edit panel and it is also shown above.
The Component is meshed using automesh in the 2D panel using mixed elemnts with element size of 3mm.
The 1D elements are created as per the instruction given.
The above 1D elements are created in the positions as mentioned in the above images (a,b,c,d,e&f)
The position a-a is created with rigid RBE2 elements around the washer split area with only translation DOF by clicking the rotational DOF(dof4,dof5,dof6) box to disable it and the centre nodes are connected with rod element with BOX cross section.
The position b-b is created with flexible RBE3 elements around the washer split area with all DOF and the centre nodes are connected with beam element with I cross section.
The position c-c is created with flexible RBE3 elements around the washer split area with only x & Y translation DOF and making others disable and the centre nodes are connected with bar element with CROSS cross section.
The position d&e are provided with mass of magnitude 10 at the centre of the node of the RBE2 link
The position f is joined uisng spring elements. The properties of cross section for 1D elemenst are given in the hyperbeam and it is updated in to the restection elements after creating the material properties
Components meshed along with links/1D elements/masses and springs
Conclusion:
The Component is imported, created midsurface, meshed and provided the 1D elements as given in the instructions.
