Week 4-1D Element Creation Challenge

AIM:

Mesh the Given component with the Size of 5 Units. Create 1D elements on the following component with given cross-section and DOF

a. Rod element:- Translational DOF should be Constrained with RBE2 link

Cross-Section: BOX- Dimension a= 12 mm

dimension b=10 mm

Thickness t= 0.75 mm

b. Beam element:- All DOF should be constrained with RBE3 link

Cross-Section: I Section- Dimension a= 8 mm

Dimension b= 10 mm

Dimension c= 8.5 mm

Thickness t1= 0.75 mm

Thickness t2= .6 mm

Thickness t3= .6 mm

c. Bar element:- Constrain only x and y DOFs With RBE3 link

Cross-section: X section- Dimension DIM1= 5 mm

Thickness DIM2= 1.2 mm

Dimension DIM3= 10 mm

Thickness DIM4= 1.2mm

d. & e. Apply the mass of magnitude 10 with the RBE2 link

f. Join the two components with Spring elements

PROCESS:

* step one we will check topoclean up requirement and then extract midsurface from the component.

*now as we know that we need to do meshing of the mid surface we will create washer surface to the circles present on the mid surface.

*now provide 2D meshing to the component with suitable target size.

* while meshing process we take care that there should not be opposite trias ,trias near circular surface and trias on fillets.

* wherever there is 'a' point is mentioned we have allot RBE2 elements with only a translation degree of freedom.

* wherever there is 'b' point is mentioned we have to provide RBE3 links with all degree of freedom.

* wherever there is 'c' point is mentioned we have to provide RBE3 link with only X and Y degree of freedom.

* have to done it by going to the 1D page and selecting the option of rigid and RBE3 respectively.

* then to create ROD,BAR and BEAM we have to go the hyperbeam option.

* inside the hyper beam window ,we select the cross section area as follows:

a. Rod element:- Translational DOF should be Constrained with RBE2 link

Cross-Section: BOX- Dimension a= 12 mm

dimension b=10 mm

Thickness t= 0.75 mm

b. Beam element:- All DOF should be constrained with RBE3 link

Cross-Section: I Section- Dimension a= 8 mm

Dimension b= 10 mm

Dimension c= 8.5 mm

Thickness t1= 0.75 mm

Thickness t2= .6 mm

Thickness t3= .6 mm

c. Bar element:- Constrain only x and y DOFs With RBE3 link

Cross-section: X section- Dimension DIM1= 5 mm

Thickness DIM2= 1.2 mm

Dimension DIM3= 10 mm

Thickness DIM4= 1.2mm

* now connect both the brackets with a Rod ,Bar ,Beam and spring 1D elements.

* we have connected brackets with Rod,Bar and Beam elements with there respective dimensions.

# FOR JOINING SPRING

* for joining two components we use spring elements and use of RBE2 rigid element.

* first, we create a RBE2 element in the end edge of upper component and as well as bottom and then fix the spring element between them.

CONCLUSION: so, here we understood about how to allot 1D elements in terms of Rod,Bar and Beam. we also understood the use and function of hyperbeam.
