Week 3 - Solving second order ODEs

ODE FUNCTION AND SUB FUNCTION

INTRODUCTION:-

ODE (ordinary differential equations) is helps us to solve many more engineering problems to be solved such as motion, vibrations, damping, etc

2nd order ODE is an ordinary equation in which it derivatives with respect to the independent variables have order not greater than 2.

a simple pendulum consist of a mass ‘m’ hanging from a string of length ‘l’ and fixed at a pivot point. When displaced to an initial angle ‘θ’ and released, the pendulum will swing back and forth with periodic motion.

SOLVING ODE :-

ODE solving ode45 is used in this matlab program. The the results are stored in an array

of row axis of two coloum, for the values of displacement and the velocity at different time periods.

FIG 1:-

have the graph is plotted to get the wave form of the displacement and the velocity.

FIG 2:-

plotting the animation transient motion of the simple pendulum.

ERRORS FACED:-

  • gave the proper value at pause

  • not using the hold on & hold off command at the proper step

  • determining the x & y values

  • I have run the wrong code first and after i created a new doc and written new code but it is taking previous code values.

  • On program ODE_sub_func code line 3 i did not mention ode_sub_func insted i typed ode_function.

  • The pendulam is rotating in anticlockwise direction in 360deg angle.

  • After getting the video it is consist of high storage but limit is 200md (but it is 1345mb)

STEPS TO OVER COME :-

  • use the proper value for the pause(0.003) to get the proper animation .

  • Delate all the old files saved in that content

  • download the animated video and converting it from avi to mp4
