Week 3
Objective:
To extract the midsurface and 2D mesh flow for the given hood component. This mesh flow should meet above quality criteria by using ANSA.
Introduction:
The given component is car hood in STEP format. The hood has four separate parts such as
1.Outer hood
2.Inner hood
3.Latch Reinforcement
4.Hinge Reinforcement
Each component have uniform thickness. The mid surface is extracted & 2D Mesh is generated by satisfying the given quality criteria.
Geomentry Topology:
The given component is checked for geometrical errors using check manager. The errors displayed is cleared by cons , hotpoint, faces & using autofix.
Geomentry Cleanup:
Mid surface Extraction:
Midsurface extracted each component of hood seperately. The midsurface of Latch, hinge, inner hood are extracted by using midsurface skin option. it had uniform thickness and less features.
Midsurface for outerhood is extracted using offset option because it had a lot of fillet features.
Midsurface of each component of hood is shown in the below figures.
Outer Mid
Inner Hood Mid:
Latch Mid:
Hinge Mid:
Shell Property:
Each component midsurface assigned with new PID'S
Meshing:
- The quality criteria & mesh parameters values are entered.
- The perimeter length value assigned is 5mm.
- Using Best option to entire pid and meshed.
- The meshparameters are minimum And maximum length, & Mesh type (mixed) set.
- The quality criteria achived by using cut,num-/+,Improve(Reconstruct),split,smooth options
- The reconstruct option use to construct smooth mesh flow
- The tria percentage would reduce by using split option.
Outer Hood Mid Meshing:
Inner Hood Mid Meshing
Latch Mid Meshing:
Hinge Mid Meshing:
Conclusion:
The given hood model is imported to the ANSA sofware and the gemontrical errors are fixed. The mid surface for each component of hood is extracted and thickness is assigned. The mid surface is meshed succesfully by statisying the quality criteria.
