Week 3
Objective:
Extract the midsurface for the given sheet metal component(shown below) and used meshing tools in ansa to create mid-mesh with appropriate quality criteria
Step-1: geometry clean up
needle faces, single cons, triple cons, collapsed cons are cleared using autofix in geometry checks dialog box.
all errors are fixed
Step-2:Orientation
Step-3: set the quality criteria as given
step-4: extract midsurface
since the part has constant thickness skin option is used to extract the mid surface, alternatively face offsety is also used to get the midsurface
step-5: meshing
surfaces are trimmed and joined to get better mesh flow and quality.
1.unwanted edges are remoed as shown below to get good quality mesh with better flow
2. since some faces are symmetric only onle half of the geometry is taken and meshed to save time
once meshing of half the part is completed it as reflected using transform->symmetry option and then combined using topo and remaining surfaces are meshed.
the process is repeated till are parts are meshed
a.hinge reinforcement
b.class B-surface
c. class A-surface(outer part)
completely meshed part:
