Week 3 - 2D meshing for sheet metal

Aim: To take the Mid surface of the given hood model using appropriate method and mesh the model according to quality criteria.

Procedure:

• Import the model and check for the geometrical error using checks manager.
• Clear the geometric error by auto fix.
• Select the PID mode and select the different parts in part id mode.
• Extract the mid surface of each part by skin method for the four parts.
• Extract mid surface for part id 574 by manual offset method.
• Once the mid surface has been created.
• Edit the quality criteria as per job requirement and save it in local folder.
• Take individual parts and generate mesh using spot mesh option.
• Improve mesh quality by different tools available like reconstruct and split and join , perimeter number addition and subtraction , Macro cut and join. Etc.
• In quality criteria option in presentation parameters select draw shell as solid option to add thickness to geometry.
