Week 3 - 2D meshing for sheet metal
Aim:
For the given Hood model, Take the mid surface for all the components after checking the geometrical errors and mesh the mid surface with the given element Quality criteria.
Procedure:
- Step 1 - open the given hood model in ansa.
- Step 2 - select any one of the default Pshell property by using properties.
- Step 3 - Do the geometric clean up by using classic topo - fine option.
- Step 4 - followed geometric clean up then go to midsurface extraction by using mid.surface. before do the midsurface extraction don't forget to off the delete orig.faces. there are three colours will be form to indicate outer surface(green), inner surface(red) and thickness( blue). A red line will appear in the middle of the thickness of the meterial after offset by middle click.
- Step 5 - Then off the parent geomentry and keep the mid surface only to go for next step, by using properties.
- Step 6 - Delete the unwanted cons that which may disturb for good mesh flow.
- Step 7 - Move to geometric check up by checks - geomertry, then click execute for check any errors. if you didn't found any errors then go for meshing.
- Step 8 - Meshing - mesh - classic mesh, select the length option for applying the given value in quality criteria.
- step 9 - check the mesh parameter and the quality criteria values as given in the question.
- step 10- Then go to mesh generation- best mesh and select the model and middle click.
conclusion:
From the above hood model, I have learned how to import the model in ansa, geometric cleanup, mid.surface and meshing by applying given quality criteria values.
