Procedure:

Import of the hood model:

The above figures represent the hood model components of a passenger car vehicle which is been imported into the ANSA.

The next step we go through in order to get the proper mesh flow is the geometry clean-up of the components and the mid surface extraction of the particular components by creating a separate PID for the mid-surfaces that are extracted.

Geometry Clean up and Mid surface Extraction:

After following the above method the geometry clean-up will take place appropriately in order to get the proper mid-surface extraction.

Some of the picture that has been geometry cleaned for the hood model component. which can been seen in the below pictures.

All the above figures represent the different components that are been linked in this hood component which are been executed and geometry cleaned and achieved a proper mid-surface in order to get a proper mesh flow.

Quality criteria assigned to the component:

The quality card which appears on the screen when we click f11 on the keyboard and feed the quality criteria in it and follow the mesh flow accordingly.

Meshing of the Component:

The above figures represent the meshing of the different components like Hood Inner panel, Outer panel, Hinges right and left, and latch reinforcement which is linked to each other in a form of a single component called the hood component of the passenger car vehicle.

Assigning Thickness to the component:

The above figure represents the thickness that is been assigned to the component by following the above procedure which can be seen in the image.

Here in this case the thickness is assigned to the latch component.

Similarly, the same procedure follows to the rest of the components.

Final Component after completion of 2-D mesh:

The above two figures represent the final component of the hood model in a passenger car vehicle after completion of the 2-D mesh on the component with passing the quality criteria assigned to the model.

Learning Outcomes:

Steps that are taken to get the proper mesh flow.

Geometry clean-up of the component.

Topology clean-up of the component.

Creating PID to the mid-surface components that are been extracted

Mid-surface extraction through the off-set method.

Giving proper length to the perimeters and macros. which will be the target element.

Spot-mesh of the components.

Re-constructing the mesh flow if the mesh is irregular.

Exposure to the commands in ANSA.

Conclusion: Therefore the 2-D mesh on a sheet metal component of a hood model is meshed by meeting the quality parameters in ANSA.
