Week 3 - 2D meshing for sheet metal

  • Open the file in ANSA
  • Bifurcate the components individually.
  • Assign material Property to the components.
  • Check for the geometrical defects for the components
  • Clear the geometrical errors by clearing triple cons, single cons, hot points, surface tear etc.
  • Check for material error and allocate proper property as defined.
  • Generate mid surface. (Used manual mid surfacing, using surface off set method)
  • Create separate Property id for each component
  • Assign thickness and MID to each PID
  • Select and add components into PID
  • Check for geometrical errors in the mid surfaces created.
  • Clear the geometrical errors from the mid surface
  • Assign the quality criteria for the meshing
  • Assign the min and mix length criteria.
  • Enter the length to specify the average distance of the nodes in the grid.
  • Generate mesh
  • Clean the mesh using available commands such as Macros -Cut, Release, Join; Hot points-Delete, Insert; Perimeter-Number, Length; Grids, Move; Shell Mesh- Regenerate, Smooth; Elements- Split
  • Check for the defects if any in the mesh state.
