Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve
Hello,
In this challenge, I mesh the pressure valve model three times with mesh lengths of 1 mm, 3 mm, and 5 mm, respectively.
In order to do this, I must first perform the topo cleanup when I resolve the following uncertainties:
1. Missing Gaps on the Model's Faces
2. Single cons
3. Triple cons
4. Finish the model so that one triple con is created at the base's edge.
5. Clearing the minimal structure areas and sections that were irregular or, in further stages, created problems in the surface meshings.
After all the other small improvements, I insured my work through geometry checkups.
After this worked in a systematic manner, I classified the whole model into several PIDs and named them accordingly. After that, surface meshing is the main focus of this challenge, and I meshed the model of the pressure valve three times separately with three different mesh target lengths of 1 mm, 3 mm, and 5 mm, respectively, and with the Tria element type.Several minor complications arose during this process, which I resolved stage by stage, and I also ensured my entire cleanup and meshing from a geometry checkup.
The surface cleaning processes that I covered are the following:
1. Ensuring that the topographical cleanup is up to date
2. For each case, I set the length of the mesh accordingly in both the parameter and macro.
3. After that, I set the same target length in the mesh option and also selected the Trio mesh element type.
4. I believe this is from the rightmost bottom corner, where the same elemental type is shown.
5. After this, I select the necessary quality checks and put the min and max mesh length as a reasonable tolerance.
6. At the engine, I select the model and run spot mesh.
Completed....
All three models are included in a single zip file, along with a word file containing some comparative results in the form of mesh lengths ranging from 1 mm to 5 mm.In that comparison, we can clearly see that the parts, such as the spring located inside the pressure valve body, are distorted in shape when a 5 mm meshing length is used, but when a 1 mm meshing length is used, the shape of the relatively small parts is pretty much up to the mark, resulting in more precise CFD results.Along with this, the meshing at the corners and edges of several parts of the model are not symetrical and well defined in the case of a 5 mm mesh target length in comparison with a 1 mm mesh target length. However, the time required to process a 5mm meshed model is less than that of a 1mm meshed model.
As a result, all sides of this pressure valve model with 1 mm mesh length produce the best results, followed by a model with 3 mm mesh length, and a model with 5 mm mesh length produces the worst results of all three models.
Thanks!!
