Week 12 - Project-1
Project-1 Meshing the Side door of a Car.
Objective
Generate the FE Model of the given Cad model using the given quality criteria
| S.N | Quality Criteria | Value |
| 1 | Aspect Ratio | 5 |
| 2 | Skewness | 45 |
| 3 | Warping | 15 |
| 4 | Taper | 0.5 |
| 5 | Min length | 2 |
| 6 | Max length | 6 |
| 7 | Min angle quad | 45 |
| 8 | Max angle Quad | 135 |
| 9 | Min angle Tria | 20 |
| 10 | Max angle Tria | 120 |

Procedure
1. Open the given CAD and understand the geometry for midsurface generation.
2. Since its a complex geometry ,we are dividing the parent cad into 4 parts using trim with plane.
3. Hide the rest of the geometry and perform geometry clean up using togggle and replace points.
4. Since the model as different thickness organize the surfaces according to thickness.
5. Using offset command generate the midsurfaces.
6. Ribs needs to be attached to the main midsurface before meshing.
7. Ribs are dragged along vector and trimmed with main surface to generate a t connection between the surface.
8. For easy and quick meshing process the surfaces are again split into small parts.
9. Now that the geometry is ready , meshing is performed with target size as 4.
10. Quality criteria are checked and fails are removed.
11. Equivalence is performed to maintain connectivity between the elements.
12. Property and thickness are assigned to the components.
Results
FE Model is generated.
Cad model reqired organizing and lots of surface spliting were required for this model due to its complexity.
