Week 10 Challenge

Aim:- Analysis the given bridge after application of snow load  as per IS 875 Part-IV.

Explaination:- Snow load is not very predominant in india except some states. Fresh snow does not contribute much in structural damage, but the wet snow is heavy and may also leads to the failure of structural member.More precisely snow load is a kind of imposed load due to accumalation of snow in concern geographical area where snow fall is most predominant. If more quantity of snow os accumulated it definately add the sizeble amount of load on structures.So the analysis of it should have to be done to get abetter understanding of the structural behaviour.

Calculations:- 

Span:- 10 m

Depth of snow = 1250 mm

Density of wet snow= 8kN/m3

snow load= 8*1.25*10= 100kN/m

Design snow load = 0.8*100 = 80 kN/m
