Week 1 Stress Concentration on a Plate with hole
1) From analysis it is found that the total deformation and maximum principal stress value of plate with a single hole in the centre is 0.00027492 max and 0.62173 max respectively which is less when compared to the values of total deformation and maximum principal stress of plate with three holes are 0.00029728 max and 0.64856 max respectively. Thus by comparing these two values it concludes the the plate with single hole has less total deformation and maximum principal stress value when compared to plate with three holes
2)From analysis standpoint i would prefer the plate with single hole because the stress concentration and also total deformation value is less. This is because the plate with a single hole has stress concentration at a single point where as plate with three holes has the stress concentration spread out to other holes
3) From manufacturing point i would prefer plate with single hole because it recquires less machining process and more over there is less wastage of material since there is one hole.
4)From all the above analysis it is perfered to select plate with single hole (case 1)since there is less deformation and less stress concentration when compared to plate with three hole in (case 2)
