Week 1 Stress Concentration on a Plate with hole
1. comparing of deformation and maximum stress developed on the both the cases.
As we can see that the maximum stress induced in the plate with holes is less than the maximum stress induced in the plate with a hole. but the deformation is vise versa with less deformation occured in the case 1 and more deformation occyred in case 2.
2. As per the analysis stand point we can select the design used in case 2. because we can see that the stress less compared to case 1. Because stress is distributing along other regions , so less chance of sudden failure.
3. but in the manufacturing stand point we can select the case 1. because we have results better in case 2 but , in manufacturing case 2 design ,lot of material is wasted.
so the from the above discussions we can conclude that the case 1 and case 2, are having their own positives and negitives and so according to the need of utilization we can select the design of plate.
